There are a number of places in the world in which Amethyst — the prime Quartz Violet Band stone — forms with a Red surface. In most cases this is a layer of hematite (iron) which has formed on the surface, however in Morocco there are extremely high quality forms of Red Amethyst which formed from a liquid red slurry of hematite which actually integrated itself into the growth process of the Amethyst. This created a deeper integration of the complementary Red and Violet Bands (the two opposite poles of the visible spectrum) than in the surface versions of Red Amethyst occurring in other locations.

This stone unifies the Red and Violet bands in an extremely powerful way, creating tremendous vitalization of the human energy system.
